Rolls Royce 'Black Badge Models' to be Launched Soon in India

A few days ago, Rolls Royce launched its Dawn convertible for the Indian market, and now the luxury carmaker is further planning to expand its portfolio in the country by introducing its “Black Badge Range”. The new Black Badge range consists of modified version of the Ghost and the Wraith, and expected to launch in India by the end of this year.

Globally showcased at Geneva Motor Show earlier this year, the black badge range features improved performance, black theme and a list of distinctive elements inside the cabin. Over the black badge upgradation of Wraith and Ghost models, Rolls Royce CEO, Torsten Müller-Ötvös said, “Technically and aesthetically, Black Badge is the alter ego of Rolls-Royce, darker, more assertive, more confident and powerful, and more demanding.”

The updates are not just limited to cosmetics, the new Ghost also gets several under hood changes and the results are increased power and torque. With a bump of 40 hp of power and 60 Nm of torque, the new black badge Ghost produces 603 hp and 840 Nm. Even the 8-Speed automatic transmission too received an updated sporty setup for quick gear shifting and to hold longer on lower gears.

According to the Autocar India report, Sales Manager, Rolls-Royce South Asia, Sven Ritter said, “We launch products like these, to appeal more and more to the younger generation. Our dealers see customers in their early 20s and 30s. We have noticed younger generation coming to our brand and want to drive the car themselves.”

Further adding, ““Outlook for India is very clear, we are seeing more demand and hence we have more products in the market. We see India as a growing market.”

“But keeping growth sustainable is important to us. We are not chasing numbers… we do not want to see a Rolls on every street. It’s going to be a very exclusive brand and something very bespoke and unique,” he added more.
