The production-ready trim of the Chevrolet Beat Active has been showcased in cross-hatch avatar at the ongoing Los Angeles Auto Show 2016. This second-gen Beat Active which is also named Spark in several American markets had made its global debut at Indian Auto Expo, 2016 in February this year.
Chevrolet will also bring this next-gen Beat under the same ‘Active’ moniker along with a compact sedan, Beat Essentia. However, the India-spec Beat cross-hatch will be a different version from that of American. While the India-bound cross-hatch is based on its first-gen platform, the later one is underpinned by a completely new platform. Although, the front fascia of the both the versions features an aggressive design.
The all-new hot-hatch beat was announced to go on sale globally from the first quarter of next year carrying a price tag of around INR 11.50 Lakh and INR 12.30 Lakh for the manual and the CVT variants respectively. Thanks to the extreme localisation of the India-spec Beat, it is expected to fall in the range between INR 6 Lakh and INR 8 Lakh.
Speaking at the event, Chevrolet director of Car and Crossover Marketing, Steve Majoros said, “The new Spark ACTIV is all about adventurous fun and style. It has an attitude, while still offering the sophisticated, efficient and connected driving experience customers have come to love.”
Coming on the appearance, the showcased production-ready model of Beat cross-hatch borrows most of its design element from its concept. At the front, it features Brand’s new dual grille pattern with ACTIV nameplate, while it also gets several off-road qualities including skid plate, 15-inch alloy wheels and revised suspension. The new suspension helped the Beat in increasing the ground clearance by 10mm. Other exterior muscular highlights include Roof-rails and body cladding which are expected to be offered as standard equipment.
Inside the cabin, the car also gets redesigned interior with additional features. The black silver accent across the well-laid-out dashboard and the premium quality of seats will surely fulfil the appeal of the buyers. However, the striking equipment inside is the Chevy’s latest MyLink touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto connectivity, which gives the car a par with the rest.
Since the India launch of both the 2017 Beat Activ Cross-hatch and Beat Essentia is around the corner, Chevrolet is offering huge discounts on the current stocks to clear them before the new arrivals.
