After performing test rounds in various countries, the 2017 Audi Q5 has been unveiled today in front of the world at the growing 2016 Paris Motor Show. Lately, the test mule of this India-bound Audi Q5 was being caught on its test rounds in Mumbai to check the SUV’s capabilities in local conditions. Based on the MLB Evo platform, the second generation Audi Q5, besides being observing the increased dimension measures, it is around 90kg lighter than its previous model. Currently, it measures 4,663mm in length, 2,140mm in width, 1,659mm in height and an improved wheelbase of 2,819mm. Which is 34mm longer, 51mm wider, 4mm taller and keeps a 12mm extended wheelbase, in comparison to the previous model.
Under the hood, the carmaker is presenting five engine options of only petrol unit and four diesel units for this 2017 Audi Q5. These are the offered engines with their configurations: a 2.0-litre TFSI petrol powered engine with power output of 185kW (252PS) and diesel powered engines include 110kW(150PS) 2.0-litre TDI engine, 120 kW (163 PS) 2.0-litre TDI diesel, 140 kW (190 PS) 2.0-litre TDI diesel and 210 kW (286 PS) 3.0-litre TDI diesel. Transmission duties would be under the supervision of offered 6-speed manual, 7-speed S Tronic and 8-speed Tiptronic gearbox (only for the 3.0-liter TDI engine unit). Moreover, the selected engine variants will be fitted with Quattro all-wheel drive system and the remaining will get front wheel drive facility.
On featuring, the major elements of the 2017 Audi Q5 are Matrix LED headlights, dynamic turn signals (front and rear both), 21-inch alloy wheels, adaptive air suspension, ambient lighting with 30 unique colours, head-up display, Audi virtual cockpit fully digital instrument cluster with a 12.3-inch high-resolution display, MMI navigation plus infotainment system with an 8.3-inch display, Qi wireless charging and Bang & Olufsen Sound System. This next-gen Audi Q5 will be produced on the larger scale at the Mexico-based company’s manufacturing facility that is going to start today.
