2016 Renault Koleos Seen in Australia: Expected to Come in India Soon

Australia has become the first market in the world to have the new Renault Koleos in its showroom. As the carmaker promised, the second generation model has finally been reached at the dealerships and ready to go on sale at the starting price of $29,990 plus on road taxes for the entry level unit, Life 4x2. First shown at the 2016 Beijing Motor Show, it is based on the same Renault-Nissan Common platform, which currently underpins the Nissan Qashqai and X-Trail followed by the Megane hatch.

Thanks to IAB, which let us enable to get our eyes on the latest spy shots of the said unit seen on Australian soil. Apart from the Life, it is also available in two other variants namely Zen (4x2) and Intens (4x4) that are priced at $33,990 and $43,490 respectively. Additionally, Zen is being offered in a 4x4 mechanism that will run you for $36,490.



Dimensions wise, the Koleos has got measured 4,672 mm in length that is 150 mm more than the older one, 1,843 mm in width, 1,678 mm in height and a wheelbase of 2,705 mm as well as ground clearance of 210 mm. Instead of using three row seat configuration or seven seat layout, it will come up with same five seater occupant capacity. With the large boot capacity and better knee room, it will let you enjoy the coziness inside the cabin.

In order to run this heavy unit, a 2.5-litre, naturally aspirated four cylinder petrol engine will be there, which is capable of propelling the car with a maximum power of 170 Bhp at 6000 rpm with 226 Nm of torque 4400 rpm. The power will be sent to the wheel through an X-Tronic automatic transmission that is standard across all the trims. 



When it comes to the India based model, it could arrive by the end of 2017. Moreover, it would be brought out via the CKD route as the previous generation model and will use the same Renault-Nissan Alliance facility in Oragadam near Chennai. If all the assumptions come out to be true then it will kick out from INR 25 Lakhs (Ex-showroom).
