2016: Royal Enfield to Approach a Parallel-Twin Engine

It's been a pretty long time since the Royal Enfield has added a new product in its portfolio. The last but not the least product launched by the manufacturer is the Continental GT. The lately introduced product is featuring the biggest engine displacement in the cruiser motorcycle family. Recently, the company has registered a name for its upcoming product, "Himalayan", which will be expected to reach Indian shores quite soon by the end of this year. The newcomer would be an Adventure-cruiser motorcycle. Apart from this, the Royal Enfield is expected to launch two new models in the coming year and one of them will be including a parallel-twin engine, i.e. a greater displacement engine.

The upcoming models will be featuring freshly designed engines which have already reached their initial development stage. However, the engine displacements are not yet been announced by the manufacturer, but believing the rumors, it would be nearly 750cc. And, out of the four models, the remaining one would be anticipated to receive a newly designed 410cc single-cylinder motor. The 410cc single-cylinder motorcycle is expected to carry a Scrambler styling.

According to the sources, "There will be at least three of four new models in 2016 based around two new engine platforms, there's a new 410cc single-cylinder overhead cam and a parallel twin. It will be a research and development facility. I'm sure design will be part of that process." The newly joined member in the Royal Enfield team such as Ex-Ducati designer, Mr. Pierre Terblanche, is doing quite well to introduce new cruisers and adventure motorcycles in the coming year, 2016. The Royal Enfield has recently engaged a new Head of Product Planning and Strategy, Mr. Simon Warburton, the Triumph's Ex-Project Manager.

A day before yesterday, the Chief Executive of the Royal Enfield, Mr. Siddhartha Lal, has made an announcement to inaugurate a new manufacturing facility and technology center in Leicestershire, United Kingdom. The operation of the UK manufacturing facility will be commenced in the coming year, 2016.
