As we have informed you, Volkswagen is ready to bring its next generation Beetle in India and bookings have also started for the same. Recently, the automaker has revealed Beetle Dune production version in Los Angeles owing to the auto show that is going to kick off from November, 20. Its concept had been disclosed already in January, 2014. This Dune version has been displayed in both hatchback and convertible avatars. The former is going to be launched in the first quarter of next year, whereas the latter will make its way to the showrooms by the end of 2016.

Although, the production spec is considerably similar to the concept, certain changes are really prominent that impart a refreshing as well as tough look to this Dune. Starting with the front bumper, there are all new alloy wheels, restyled air vents, newly added fog lamps and projector headlights with LED units. The side profile highlights Dune graphics on the door bottoms on either side and the rear sports skid plates on the bumper.

Moving inside the car, the body colored dashboard and seats with yellow stitching don the same look as the concept however, there are subtle changes on the steering wheel. Further, there are hi-tech equipments like 6.3 inch display enabled with gesture controls, USB & Bluetooth connectivity, and Park Distance Control System. There is also a proximity sensor that automatically switches its display on sensing a hand nearby so as to allow an easier access to the user.
As far as the engine is concerned, power is derived from 1.8 litre turbocharged TSI unit that is tuned to pump out 170Hp and 184 pound ft of peak torque, which is transmitted to the wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission facility. The Beetle Dune is available in three paint shades viz. Sandstorm Yellow, Pure White and Deep Black Pearl. The interior is trimmed in yellow color in the first one, whereas for the other two, the doors and dashpad flaunt black paint.
