2017 Chevrolet Bolt Showcased at CES 2016

General Motors has recently unveiled the production version of its 2017 Bolt, which is an all electric vehicle, at the CES 2016 in Las Vegas. The concept was showcased in January, 2015 and now the company is all set to start the production by the end of this year. This EV may look like a usual compact car, but the truth is with this offering, GM will beat even the perfectionist Tesla Motors in providing an affordable electric car for the masses with a triple digit range.

The Bolt will cost around USD 30,000 and will cover 200 miles on a single charge, whereas Tesla's Model S with a range of 230 miles costs around USD 70,000. While Tesla is planning for Tesla 3 at a reasonable price by the end of 2017, automakers like VW and Nissan are also considering to set foot in the segment. The fundamental features are same that were found in the concept, but some additional updates have been witnessed.

There are cameras mounted on the rear portion whose feedback is displayed on the rearview mirror. Further, there is a 10.2-inch MyLink infotainment system featuring 4G LTE connectivity, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth and navigation mapping. There is even a MyChevrolet Mobile App that syncs your smartphone to the car, thereby enabling you to control functions like remote start, access to owner's manual information, vehicle charge status, Onstar Map service, etc.

The technical specs are expected to be disclosed at 2016 North American International Motor Show in Detroit that will be held next week. As far as the mechanical configuration is concerned, the automaker hasn't disclosed anything. Tagged as a 2017 model, we believe, this Chevrolet Bolt could make its way to the market either by this year's end or by early 2017. The production will be carried on in Michigan.
