One of the top ranking motorcycle manufacturers in the Indian automotive market, Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India(HMSI), which is highly-recommended for its reliable range of products in terms of performance and mileage, is currently working on upgradation of its existing product lineup for the impending BS-IV emission norms. The stringent BS-IV emission norms are going to hit the country soon from April 2017. Lately, the two-wheeler manufacturers has updated a number of products in lineup such as Activa, Activa 125cc, Aviator, Shine, Shine SP and many more.
The second largest selling scooter from the giant, Honda Dio, has spotted at a dealeryard in its latest avatar. The 2017 Honda Dio now features an extending smiling element over the front apron which is likely to be a lighting element. Other than this, an additional light was also seen over the side blinkers which could be DRLs on this new Dio model.
Moreover, the scooter has also received an excellent dual tone paint work along with new decals and stickers employment. From the leaked images, the newly introduced colours for this most preferred scooter by young generation includes Yellow-Grey and Blue-White. An Orange-Matte Grey shade can also be on offer as expected.
Other changes on this 2017 Honda Dio will be an upgraded BS-IV engine and an Auto Headlamp On (AHO) feature.
If talk about the powertrain, there is no information about any alteration on the mechanical front. However, the 2017 Dio is likely to be powered by the same old 109.2cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder, four-stroke engine of the outgoing model. It develops the maximum power of 8bhp at 7,500 rpm and a peak torque of 8.74Nm at 5,500rpm through the mated gearbox transmission. The engine will now be BS-IV compliant.
With this upgraded 2017 Dio, which will be priced slight costlier than the previous model, the company is eyeing to take away some sales from its rival in the segment.
