Kawasaki Motors (Malaysia) has rolled out the 2017 model year editions of the Z650 and the Ninja 650 in Malaysia. The naked streetfighter offering, the Z250 is priced at RM 35,609 (Rs 5.25 lakh). Whereas, the Ninja 650 will make you spend RM 37,189 (Rs 5.49 lakh), to own the bike.
In terms of comparison, both the new Z650 and the Ninja 650 are much-improved bikes than their predecessors, not only in terms of looks but also on the mechanical front. Apparently, the bike maker has overhauled the design language to give the bikes sportier appeal. Besides this, the alterations which have been observed on the motorcycles includes revised chassis, a redesigned swingarm, and a centrally-mounted mono shock as a replacement of earlier offset mounted rear shock.
The 2017 Z250 and the Ninja 650 are now 19kgs lighter in weight than its predecessors, due to the inclusion of revised platform.
Mechanically, both the 2017 Z650 and the new Ninja 650 will be powered by a 649cc parallel-twin engine. The motor is capable of producing 66 bhp and 65Nm of torque through the mated a six-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch. The stopping responsibilities will be taken care by the 300mm dual discs up front and a single 220mm disc brake at the rear. The advanced ABS safety is also being provided as a standard fitment.
If talk about their Indian launch, they are likely to hit the Indian market in the next couple of months via CKD route. Shipped motorcycles will be locally assembled at the company’s manufacturing capability in Pune.
