2017 Land Rover Discovery: Image Released Ahead of Paris Debut

Land Rover has officially released a front facing image of its all-new 2017 Discovery SUV. On design, the upcoming Discovery SUV looks much identical to the Discovery Vision Concept which was first showcased at New York Auto Show in 2014. Tata Motors-owned British SUV maker has also confirmed that the new Discovery will make its global debut at this year’s Paris Motor Show which will be held in later this month.

After almost a decade, the name ‘Discovery’ will be retained with the arrival of the muscular 2017 Discovery, also called ‘the new Disco’. The new Disco will be a lot lighter in weight than its previous generation model, as it is based on the Range Rover’s new platform which uses aluminium to reduce the vehicle weight.

What Land Rover’s Chief Design Officer says about the 2017 Discovery, Gerry McGovern said, “The new Discovery redefines the large SUV. Land Rover’s design and engineering teams have revolutionised the Discovery DNA to create a highly desirable, extremely versatile and hugely capable premium SUV.”

Beneath the front end, the new 2017 Discovery is expected to borrow the engine from the brand’s Ingenium family. Some reports also suggest that it will be the first model from the company’s lineup to feature a special SVX off road version. Despite moving entirely to a unibody chassis, there will not be any compromised with the off-road capabilities, and the new Discovery will feature the same class-leading qualities which it is known for.
More on the SUV will be disclosed on this September 28, when it takes off the cover in Paris.
