The heavily camouflaged 2017 Land Rover Discovery has been spied testing several times before, and now again but hardly camouflaged. From the recent spy shots, the test mule of all new Land Rover Discovery is barely disguised and reveals all the exterior design and details of the SUV. The orange and black coloured test mule seems to be a production ready version and is expected to make the global debut sometime later in this year.
Tata Motors owned British luxury SUV maker, Land Rover had showcased the idea of the 2017 Discovery in 2014 as Discovery Vision concept. And now it is no longer a concept, in terms of the exterior body style, the spied version remains large same as its concept. The next generation Discovery features brand's latest design ideology which is used on Range Rover Evoque, Range Rover Sport, and the Land Rover Discovery Sport.
Based on the same PLP (Premium Lightweight Architecture) platform that also underpins the Range Rover and Range Rover Sports, the 2017 Land Rover Discovery will be offered globally in both diesel and petrol powertrains. Along with a 2.0-litre and a 3.0-litre engine, a mild hybrid system can also be expected at the initial phase.
However, the company is being tight-lipped about the engine details of the 2017 Discovery, but if the reports from the autoexpress.co.uk are to be believed, it can carry the JLR’s new 2.0-litre four cylinder petrol or diesel Ingenium configuration under the front beneath.
To be a Premium luxury SUV, the fifth generation Discovery will be equipped with all the latest technology-genius features. The interior of the previewed concept featured the neat gesture-controlled JLR (Jaguar Land Rover) rotary gear knob, similarly operated lights and indicators, and smart glass panel for allowing the information to be appeared on the windshield and roof. Besides, the top end trim is likely to be offered with laser powered headlamps which offer an unparalleled vision.
2016 Los Angeles Auto Show would be the best time to introduced the world to the next generation Land Rover Discovery. The LA Auto Show will start from November 18th. The luxury SUV will be launched by the end of this year and the European market is likely to be the first recipient of it. While the North America and other potential markets will receive it by the first half of next year. It will be manufactured at the company’s facility in Solihull, England alongside the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport.
