2017 Los Angeles Auto Show: Seven-Seater Lexus RX L Showcased

At the proceeding 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show, the luxury vehicle division of Japanese car maker Toyota, Lexus has unveiled the longer version of the RX SUV, the RX L. It is the third-row version of the RX SUV that was announced to unleash a few weeks ago by the auto major. The RX SUV is already on sale in India.

The Lexus RX’s styling what is loved most by the audience is being continued on the RX L too. Though, the later is an elongated version but the wheelbase is all same as the regular model. The overall height of the RX L is reduced a bit and this three-row models rides marginally higher than the two-row SUV.

Look wize, both the SUVs seem identical as the carmaker did not make any changes at the skin front. Though, the rear windscreen of the RX L that is considered by the Lexus is placed more steeply raked as compared to the regular RX model.

The sitting arrangement is pretty comfortable as the second row in the Lexus RX L has settled relatively higher in order to offer enough legroom for the third row passengers. The Lexus is offering six- and seven-seat configuration for the RX L, where in the six seat option you will get captain seats in the middle row while in the seven seat option, the seats features in 40:20:40 proportion.

In terms of features, the RX L model is carrying forward equipments from the regular five-seater models. Other than this, it will also get the three-zone air conditioning and a power-folding third row seat as the new additions.

Under the fuel tank, the RX L will continue to be powered by the same powertrain options of the RX. Even the hybrid powertrain is also carried over from the RX. The naturally aspirated V6 petrol engine is also being offered. However, there is no confirmation that the RX 450hL hybrid model will be given to the Indian market as like RX 450h or not. The reason behind this confusion is the RX model price in India which is over Rs 1 crore (CBU import) though as expected a three-row SUV will be a much better option for the buyers.

At the rivalry front, the RX knock its horns with the likes of the Volvo XC90 and the Audi Q7 and both are seven seater options. In India, the Lexus RX 450hL is likely to hit the market in anytime next year.
