2018 Maruti Ciaz is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine generating an output of 12PS/8Nm high as compared to the pre-facelift Ciaz. The updated Ciaz is comparatively more powerful now but not the most powerful like some rivals. The Honda City and the Hyundai Verna win this segment when it comes to outright power.
New Ciaz is packed with the smart hybrid tech pack and also the first to take petrol-powered SHVS technology in Maruti.
The Volkswagen Vento is the only one in the sedan segment to get a turbocharged petrol powertrain. It has the segment dominating torque numbers. The Vento has a 7-speed DSG attached to a turbo-petrol engine which is the most practical transmission of the segment.
