Tata Motors had provided models like Tiago, Tigor as well as Nexon following the IMPACT design language. Now the carmaker is working on products based on the IMPACT 2 design language. Of which, it has rolled out the Harrier and Altroz models. While the existing lineup is also in the queue to get updated with this new body design in coming months.
We have witnessed spied of Tiago facelift earlier this month in Pune and now the spy images of 2019 Tata Nexon has emerged online following the same IMPACT design language.
Tata Tiago and the Nexon are the major volume generator for the company. The Tiago was launched in India in April 2016 while the Nexon debuted in Sep 2017. The Tigor hit the Indian market in March 2017, however, it did not remain that successful for the carmaker akin to the other two cars. With an average monthly sales of about 8,000 units, Tiago is the brands best selling car while the Nexon with clocked 5,000 units is the second best selling car. Updated with the Tatas new design language, the cars are more likely to increase business for the company.
Lately, both the 2019 Tiago and Nexon facelift spotted in Chandigarh by an automotive enthusiasts Dennis Kalyana. He managed to click pictures while the cars were being unloaded from a trailer. There are lots of chances that these test mules are heading up north, for high altitude and cold weather testing in the Himalayas. From the surfaced images, the cars are being expected to get updated at the exterior along with the interiors. However, the interiors were covered for not offering any clue of applied changes.

The ongoing Tiago, Tigor as well as the Nexon models are based on the XO platform. The underpinned platform is also touted to get updated with the Alfa platform if the length of the car is under 4.3 meter. Otherwise, they will rest on the OMEGA platform. The future Tata cars will underpin either the Alfa platform or the OMEGA platform as both are rated to deliver 5-star safety cars.
These new platforms are highly adaptable and can easily adapt varied body style and size. Not even this, they can also be suitable for hybrid and electric cars. The automaker can try several engines and transmission option on them. We are also aware of the future of mobility thatÂ’s electric/hybrid cars, such platforms would make easier for automakers mould these platforms as per the needs.

Other than the platform and design update, Tata will also alter underpinned powertrains in order to comply with the upcoming BS6 emission norms. Due to this, Tiago and Tigor will not be offered with the diesel engine option for a long time. The company will discontinue 1-litre diesel 3 cylinder engine option from Tiago and Tigor lineup. While the Nexon will continue to be offered with petrol as well as a diesel option.
