Recently, Audi has unveiled the plug-in hybrid versions of its A-series line up: A8, A7. A6, and Q5 before their showcasing at this year\'s Geneva Motor show. All the cars will be given the ‘TFSI e’ badges as e-tron moniker is not expected to be used by Audi in all of new PHEVs. It is also reported from the company sources that the e-tron badging will only be utilized for the all-electric vehicles from the house of Audi. All this recently unveiled PHEVs from the Audi is expected to deliver a 40km electric-only range owing to the stricter WLTP cycle recently announced.
The top-range PHEV will be the A8 L 60 TFSI e quattro among all the PHEVs recently announced by the German car maker. As far as the power is concerned, the range-topping Audi A8 PHEV will sport a 3-litre V6 petrol engine along with the synchronous electric motor, and a 14.1kWh battery pack. Such a combination will be capable of offering a combined system output of 450 hp along with 700 Nm of Torque. Talking about transmission, 8-speed Tiptronic unit will be offered.

Apart from the range-topping A8 PHEV, the remaining ones, Audi A6, Audi A7 and Audi Q8 will offer identical performance and power output of 300 hp and 450 Nm of torque in the entry-level 50 TFSI e ‘comfort’. When it comes to the higher performance 55 TFSI e segment, the cars will offer boosted power output of 368 hp and 500 Nm of torque. Adding to this, sportier styling and suspension setup is also expected in the 55 TFSI e range cars supporting the driving dynamics. However, there is still a lack of clarity about performance and efficiency figures as they are yet to be disclosed by Audi. We can expect more clarity on performance and efficiency figures post the showcasing of all the TFSI e range cars at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show.
The company officials from Audi has also revealed that engine technology from e-tron will also be utilized in the PHEVs powertrains and also claimed to recover up to 80 kW of energy under maximum load in all the PHEVs with the help of regenerative braking.

As of now, there is no official announcement from the Audi regarding the India launch of all the new PHEVs as well as the pricing. However, it is important to mention that Audi has seen an 18 per cent slump in overall car sales last year in the Indian market. Despite such sales down, it is expected that Audi German carmaker will launch the all-new A8, A6 and a refreshed R8 this year in India.
