Audi has released a couple of sketches of its upcoming performance-oriented car which is all set to be previewed at 2017 Shanghai Motor Show. What Audi calls it as ‘Sportback’ which is completely a surprise package from the teaser images the carmaker revealed. The silhouette under the cover suggests it might be a combination of both crossover and a coupe.
If we look into its powertrain, we can say it would be powered by an electric setup, as Audi has given the biggest hint with the ‘e-Tron’ word. However, we still wonder if it would be paired with a mechanical setup to be a hybrid version or would come as a pure electric run. But moving at the rear what we see is the lack of exhaust pipes, this could where Audi might want to bring our attention to hints its zero-emission project.
Leveraging the teaser images, the sketches show the oversized wheels but the sloped roofline ending with an interesting spoiler which boasts off two arches on its sides, further gives the car coupe-like stance. Another major detail missing on the images is conventional wing mirrors which are replaced by the cameras to give the car futuristic sleeker appearance.
You can see the illuminated four-ring badge on both the front and rear end. The LED headlamps are inserted in the grille of the bumper. At the rear, the tails lamps run across the bumper in twin LED slats giving it next-generation appearance as we have seen on several concepts before.
Whatever it is, we are still scratching our head to figure out what it hides under its skin. Well, we are not secret service agents, so the only thing we can do is to wait and watch till the carmaker itself come front to take the curtains off from e-Tron Sportback, the so-called at the Shanghai Motor Show 2017.
