The Ingolstadt-based carmaker, Audi has taken the covers off from the R8 Spyder V10 Plus. it is the convertible version of the R8 V10 Plus variant and claimed as the most powerful convertible produced ever by the company.
In a press conference, Mr. Stephan Winkelmann, MD of Audi Sport GmbH, said “The Audi R8 Spyder V10 Plus completes the R8 model line. It benefits from our many years of experience in motorsport and combines breathtaking dynamics with the emotion of an open-top sports car.”
Under the hood, the R8 Spyder is powered by the same naturally-aspirated, 5.2-litre V10 engine of the coupe model. However, the engine has been tuned to develop 610PS of maximum power and 560Nm of peak torque through the integrated a 7-speed, dual-clutch automatic transmission. All the generated power will be transmitted to the road with the help of provided Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive system.
In terms of performance, the R8 Spyder V10 Plus is an upmarket model from Audi, as this sports runner is rated to reach 100kmph from a standstill position just in 3.3 seconds. While it can hit the top speed of 328Kmph on the speedometer.
Inside the cabin, the features list consists of 12.3-inch Audi virtual cockpit which displays information through 3D graphics. Besides, Audi offers MMI( Multi Media Interface) navigation with MMI touch, two-seater drop-top, voice recognition, and microphones integrated seat belts for better voice quality.
The optional Audi Connect module which offers navigation with Google Earth and Google Street View is being provided with fast internet access via LTE. Other than this, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay is also there for seamless smartphone connectivity. Keeping occupants entertainment in mind, Audi has furnished the car with a Bang & Olufsen sound system with two loudspeakers furnished on the head restraints of both the seat.
The pre-booking for the R8 Spyder V10 Plus has been commenced in Germany. While it’s Indian arrival is likely to take place soon in the coming months. The coupe in India is available at the price sticker of Rs 2.55 crore (ex-showroom Delhi). While, the Spyder is expected to be priced somewhere around Rs 2.8 crore, whenever it will hit the Indian dealerships.
