Bajaj MD Announces Chetak (E-Scooter) Pricing Would be Attractive, Not Aggressive

As per the leaked sources, it has been found that Bajaj has recently wrapped up the production of its first product under its new Urbanite business vertical. The developed product here in question is an electronic version of the immensely popular scooter, Chetak in the Indian auto sector. Although, this scooter hasn\'t been used much on Indian roads in the past 14 years.

Bajaj Auto is planning to launch its electronic range of Chetak scooter in the first quarter of 2020. The early launch rumours, i.e., possibly in January of Chetak e-scooter has created a lot of buzz in the Indian auto market among all the e-scooter and Bajaj fans. Many details about this new Bajaj e-scooter has already been revealed on the internet. The new Bajaj e-scooter is expected to come up with non-removable lithium-ion battery pack, 4kW electric motor, and a real-world driving range of 95km in Eco Mode.

Chetak e-scooter might also be positioned in a premium scooter segment by Bajaj as extra attention has been given to smaller features like full-LED lighting, digital console, scooter material quality, side stand and flush-fitting pillion footpegs. Many experts are already predicting that this e-scooter from Bajaj would be a part of its premium range scooter series.

Although no official pricing has been announced yet from the company end. It seems like Bajaj is saving the pricing information until the scooter launch date. In a recent auto event, the company MD Rajiv Bajaj announced that the pricing of their new Chetak e-scooter would be very attractive but not aggressive. Further, he also went on to say that the pricing would certainly not be as high as around INR 1.5 lakh.

The attractive pricing aspect announced by the Bajaj director certainly reflects the success of their localisation efforts put in to design this highly anticipated e-scooter. Despite this, the pricing of the scooter would be below or above INR 1 lakh is still a big question to answer for anyone. For those who don\'t know, the closest rival fo the new Chetak e-scooter is likely to be Arther 450, priced at INR 1.13 lakh (Bengaluru).
