BMW is eying the fastest growing economy of the world India for its personal growth and making all the efforts to make the company a hit in every segment like sedan, hatchback, hybrid and SUV. Now, to become the rule of Indian market, the German auto stalwart has confirmed the launch of its latest hybrid sedan car i8, which will run on both petrol and battery.
The car was first showcased at the Frankfort Motor Show in September last year, was in India at the recently concluded Auto Expo in February. Since that time, the car has got many admirers and people are desperately anticipating it after the confirmation of its launch in the very same year. The BMW will fit the i8 with a powerful 3-Cylinder double turbocharged 1.5 litre petrol engine which can produce the 231 hp power and 320 Nm of torque. Now, that was in the front wheels, and for the rear wheels, the BMW i8 has an electric motor to produce 131 hp and 250 Nm torque. Combine power of both the technologies will produce a sum of 362 hp and 570 Nm torque to drive the BMW i8 from 0-100 km/h in 4.5 seconds with a maximum speed of 250 km/h.
According to the company sources, the European version of BMW i8 claims to offer a mileage of 40 km/l and if that's true, then I guess this mission-impossible type car will be hit in India as the metro cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Pune and Chennai has large space for it.
