BMW G310 GS Revving Out in Germany; Executing Test Runs

BMW is arduously trying to let us believe that its upcoming G310 GS is still under the testing period, however, the spy shots of the production-ready model are repeatedly coming over. The company's strategy behind the arrival of this bike is to expand its segment in the markets that are emerging around. The BMW G310 GS has been spied in Germany this time and could make a global premiere at the upcoming EICMA in Milan.

We came to know about the existence of the small displacement tourer when the initial spy shots surfaced online and they also hinted about the launch of the bike anytime soon. Now when the adventure motorcycle has been spied again, the images are certainly much clearer and expounds further details. The undisguised test mule is clearly identical to the stylish hunk R1200 GS, however, it is reported to be based upon the G310 R. The apparent visuals feature higher handlebars in contrast to the naked street bike. Besides, it also carries a luggage rack at the back and dual-purpose tyres.

BMW G310 GS Spied Testing

As the test mule was completely uncamouflaged, it would not be a surprise if the bike makes a glorious debut the EICMA show next month. The new spy shots reveal the silver painted livery of the upcoming sportster with tweaks of the semi-red fairing and black color. There’s also a long travel suspension with a bash plate. As it is very obvious, the ‘GS’ monikered bike will join the BMW GS family, persisting the same adventure motorcycle styling mimics.

Power in the tourer will be blown via the same 313cc, fuel-injected, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine. Though it is the same as that of the G310R, the cylinder head has now been revolved by 180 degrees, thereby positioning towards the exhaust. No changes are being expected in the power numbers, which means the engine will churn out 34PS at 9500 RPM and a maximum torque of 28NM at 7500 RPM.

TVS’s Hosur facility plant will manufacture and service the adventure machine in India. It makes sense as the production costs will be controlled and the automaker can launch the G310 GS at a competitive price tag in the country. The expected launch period of the bike is around late 2017.
