BMW Motorrad starts its operations officially in India. It is one of the divisions of BMW Group, which only deals in manufacturing motorcycles or bikes. Earlier the BMW Motorrad used to operate its business in the country with private importers but this marks the brand's official entry into the country backed by sales and service support for customers. The Motorcycle maker officially announced the prices of different variants of bikes. All models are being transported through CBU Completely Build Up route (CBU).
Shivapada Ray is handling the BMW Motorrad India. Earlier, he was the COO (Chief Operations Officer) at DSK Benelli. The bike maker said in a statement, we are trying to build more team and network across the India. Currently, we are going to open showroom outlets in Mumbai, Bangalore and Pune, which are planned to be inaugurated on 12, 13 and 14 April respectively.
Talking about the model range, BMW Motorrad will provide a range of premium models in different categories. Models are divided into five categories such as Sports, Adventures, Heritage, Tour and Roadster.
Bike maker will sell several models like BMW R 1200 RS, R 1200 RT, BMW R 1200 R, BMW K 1600 GTL; as well as the BMW S 1000 RR, BMW S 1000 R, BMW R NineT and R NineT Scrambler. There is also the BMW R 1200 GS Adventure, R 1200 GS and the BMW S 1000 XR to choose from. The prices of BMW motorcycle may vary from model to model. All the models are being transported through Completely Built-up Units (CBU).

Sales of the CBU range starts now, the motorcycle maker has not given any statement on the launch of much awaited “made in India” BMW G 310 R. Firstly, BMW Motorrad would like to set up its dealer network across the India and then supply adequate support before presenting the most affordable model , marked to be priced between Rs. 2-2.5 lakh (ex-showroom). The BMW G 310 R is already available on sale in the US whereas in European market the launch is planned for this week.
