BMW to Launch i8 Hybrid Sportscar in India on February 18

BMW showcased its i8 hybrid sportscar at the Auto Expo last year in India and then after, the manufacturer made an announcement that the car will be launched next year. Now, the new year has been started and the exact date has come out, which gives a confirmation that this most awaited vehicle will be set up in the country on February 18 at the expected price of INR 2 Crore. Design wise, it includes laser headlights, 2+2 seating capacity and a high tech dashboard. Notably, the upcoming roadster will be the second car in India after the Audi R8 LMX that would get a laser beam headlights.

Beneath the skin, i8 is powered by a 1.5 litre three cylinder petrol engine alongside an electric motor to produce the total power of 360 hp as well as a maximum torque of 570 Nm. There will be two transmission options available for 2-speed and 6-speed, in which the former one is coupled with an electric motor driving its front wheels, while another one comes mated to petrol mill sending power to the rear wheels.

Comprising the weight of 485 kg, this car can be accelerated from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.4 seconds ahead of hitting the top speed of 250 km/h. BMW offers one more electric motor under the hood to start the sportscar and to churn out extra torque in case of the paucities.
