BMW X5 Plug in Hybrid Unveiled Ahead of New York Show

The German luxury car manufacturer, BMW will debut the hybrid version of its luxury model at the upcoming 2015 New York Motor Show next month, while ahead of unveiling at this event, the company has disclosed its mechanical details. It will be powered by a 2.0 litre petrol engine that would churn out maximum power of 242 bhp alongside a peak torque of 350 Nm and when combining with an electric motor, the X5 xDrive40e will produce a total output of 309 bhp that is 55 bhp extra as compared to the X5 xDrive30d.

This hybrid model receives a 9 kW lithium ion battery, including 96 individual cells, which is capable to be fully charged in just three hours and due to the installation of battery, its boot space has been reduced by approximately 150 litres. Notably, the upcoming SUV will be available in three driving modes with the name of eDrive, Max e Drive and Save Battery. All of these distinct variants would comprise different features by which, the customers will have options to select one of the best among them according to their needs.

BMW says that this runabout can be accelerated from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.8 seconds prior to hitting a top speed of 211 km/h. On the other hand, the X5 xDrive30d has a capability to achieve 100 km/h speed starting from zero in 6.8 second and can mark a top speed of 230 km/h.
