Some days ago, we informed you that Renault India is all set to kick off the booking of Kwid from 14th of September. And now as scheduled, the automaker has commenced the official booking procedure today. Moreover, as per a website report, the first unit of this hatchback has also reached to the company dealership. Prospective buyers are quite excited about this car as it is going to be one of its kind vehicle. It will don the structure of a hatchback, but at the same time bear looks of a crossover with high ground clearance.

Dimensionally, this model is 3,679 mm in length, 1,471 mm in width and 1,579 mm in height alongside 2,422 mm of wheelbase. Due to the intensive use of aluminium and other lightweight materials in its construction, the car measures only 660 kgs in weight. Besides these, its ground clearance and unique styling will aid in providing a competitive edge over other cars in this segment.
The interior flaunts a spacious cabin and the boot space of 300 litres is quite impressive. From inside, the Kwid is fitted with an array of hi-tech features like a 7-inch infotainment system with touchscreen interface comprising USB, Bluetooth and AUX connectivity options, Chromed Air Conditioner vents, digital instruments cluster, driver side airbag, etc.
Source of power will be a new 799 cc, three-cylinder petrol engine that will be capable enough to make maximum output of 53 Bhp at 5,678 rpm and 72 Nm at 4,386 rpm. Mated to a five-speed manual gearbox, this mechanical setup is claimed to offer a best-in-class mileage of 25.17 km/l.
A total of four variants will be present in the lineup namely- Std, RxE, RxL and RxT. It will be launched at the starting price of INR 3 Lacs to 4.5 Lacs and the manufacturing will take place at Renault's production facility located in Chennai with 98% localization. The likes of Hyundai Eon and Maruti Alto 800 can be probable competitors for the upcoming Kwid.
