The second-generation all new 2016 Toyota Fortuner has set to enter the Indian market in a month or two. The pre-booking for this muscular SUV have been started at the Toyota dealerships across the country, while the full specifications including the engine details and features list have been come out before the launch.
In the wake after lifting the ban on the heavy diesel-powered car, Toyota has put this next generation Fortuner on a speed-track. According to a report on Autocar India, the all new Toyota Fortuner has started arriving at the company showrooms for the training or demo purpose.
This next generation Toyota Fortuner is hulkish in appearance while being a beast by the blood. No matter who are on the opponent list, the flagship SUV from Toyota, Fortuner is the true ruler of the segment over the years and similar we can expect from the new tweaked Fortuner as well. Beneath the front-end -
Under the hood, the new Fortuner will feature the same range of powertrains which have been seen on the latest 2016 Toyota Innova. It will be offered in both petrol and diesel engine options. Initially, the diesel SUV will get a 2.8-litre engine configuration while the petrol-powered SUV will feature the 2.7-litre engine displacement.
Explaining in more detailed, the diesel SUV will be launched with 4WD (All Wheel Drive) system which is named Sigma 4, in both 6-speed manual and automatic transmission options. The new Sigma 4 system features active traction control on all four wheels.
On petrol side, there will be a choice between 2WD and 4WD. While the former will be mated to a 5-Speed manual gearbox, the later or stronger will come paired with an automatic gearbox.
List of new features and technologies inside-out -
Exterior highlights of the new 2016 Fortuner include 18-inch and 17-inch alloy rims for diesel and petrol model respectively, first-in-segment Bi-beam LED headlamps with LED DRLs (Daytime Running Lights).
Other technology-genius features include A-TRC Traction Control (TRC) system, Cruise Control, Downhill Assist Control (DAC) system, electric tailgate, electrically adjustable driver seat, 7-inch T-Connect smart infotainment system with satellite navigation connectivity, reversing parking camera and push start/stop button.
Estimated Price and Launch date -
The second generation model of Toyota Fortuner is expected to get a higher price tag over the current model. Currently on sale, the top-end variant of Fortuner 4*4 AT costs INR 28 Lakh, and Toyota is confident enough to tag this new Fortuner on a higher price. We can expect Ex-Showroom price of around INR 30 Lakh for the upcoming model.
Since the new SUVs have already been seen on the dealerships, Toyota will it make available in November.
