In our earlier post, where we have reported you about the rendering of customized Royal Enfield 1000cc V-twin engine by the Australian custom motorcycle manufacturer, Carberry, the company has unveiled the same. Entitled as the Double Barrel 1000, the engine has been launched at a whopping price tag of INR 4.96 lakhs. It is an ex-factory price of the engine which interestingly not included the freight, handling and tax rates. The bookings for the same have also started. Desirables can place their order by paying the 50 percent amount of the price. The deliveries are expected within 4-7 months of placing the order.
Basically, carrying that heavier price tag, the 1000cc V-twin engine is an association of two 500cc Royal Enfield engines. It is an air cooled carbureted motor which includes a redesigned crankshaft and crankcase as its internal components along with a seven plate clutch unit. The redesigned crankshaft and crankcase helps in bearing the increased load and delivery.
Well, as the company claims this liter class engine is adequate to propel out the astonishing power of 56.23bhp and 108 Nm of peak torque. The power transmission to the rear wheel will be handled by a chain drive and 5-speed gearbox. The exhaust system to breathe out the carbon particulates is not included as it is a frame dependent component for the engine. Other than this, a fuel injected trim of the engine is also underworked as the company claims.

The manufacturing of the engine in question will take place at the Bhilai situated Carberry plant setup in February last year. As the engine is not road legal for the Indian market, so the company is using it only for the export markets, for Carberry motorcycles available for homologation and for its premiere purpose only. The Indian arrival of the Carberry Motorcycles with double barrel engine is expected by the end of this year, as it is not a road legal here and the company is working on complying ARAI standards before its introduction here.
