Chevrolet Bolt EV Price Announced: Cheaper Than Tesla Model 3

General Motors has revealed the price of its pure electric car, Chevrolet Bolt which will go on sell at the price around INR 20 Lakh ($29,995). This makes Chevy Bolt a slightly cheaper over the Tesla’s most affordable upcoming Model 3 which will be shipped by late-2017 at a price of around INR 23.5 Lakh ($35,000). However, the EV Bolt will start at INR 25.1 Lakh ($37,495) before taking into consideration an amount of federal tax credit INR 5 Lakh ($7,500).

The production version of this pure electric car, Bolt was first showcased at CSE 2016 in Las Vegas, while its concept was first rolled-out in January 2015.
Chevrolet claims a driving range of around 383 kilometers on a single charge, which is considerably higher than any other electric model offers in the market. Even after being cheaper, the Bolt offers 37 kilometers more driving range than the Model 3.

The standard features of this electric car include a 10.2-inch touch infotainment display, rear view camera, and steering mounted paddle shifters. Also available in a premium version, which will surely carry a higher price tag and will include luxury equipment like leather upholstery, front and rear-heated seats, and a surrounding camera.


On Aesthetics, the car looks similar to that of shown in earlier this year with the same front fascia including the front grille, LED headlamps, sloping roof, and sharp contours.

Standing between the same price range, both the cars (Chevy Bolt and Tesla Model 3) will be battling for the buyers. While the Tesla is renowned for the largest electric car manufacturer across the globe, General Motors has a vast dealership network around the world.


In the event, manager for car and crossover marketing at Chevrolet, Steve Majoros kept it unknowing when asked about the number of pre-orders for this EV so far. However, he hinted that the interest in the vehicle is strong, including from corporates and government fleets.

The American auto giant has flagged off the promotions of it upcoming Bolt, including an online website which allows the buyers to calculate the total number of miles they drive in a day and how much they can save using this electric car.
