Following the launch of all-new Santro, India’s most affordable AMT Hatchback, Hyundai is all set to launch its most affordable compact electric SUV for the Indian Audience. Christened as the KONA and with a price tag of Rs 25 lakh, the electric compact SUV will be locally assembled and offer a range of 312 km on a single charge. The launch is expected during the second half of 2019. Reportedly, Kona was earlier showcased at the Delhi Auto Expo 2018. Here’s what you can expect from the Hyundai Kona electric.
Battery And Charging
Hyundai will team up with third parties to offer fast public charging stations. The first instalment of the Kona electric will be equipped with short-range 39.2kWh battery with a slow AC home charger. The electric SUV promises 312 km but subsequent siblings will have 64 kWh battery pack with 470 km range. Hyundai will also provide a home charger which promise 80 percent charge in six to eight hours.
Design and Features
The Indian variant will in all likelihood borrow looks and comfort from its European sibling. The SUV with sculpted lines and stylish edges feels sportier and expressive from all angles. The front fascia with sleek closed grille announces its electric DNA with elan. While Hyundai is tight-lipped on the intrinsic details, we guess the following features will make it to the Indian Trim too.
