The Italian manufacturer Ducati has unveiled the launch date of its Monster 821 model for the 2018 calendar via its social network. On 1 May 2018, the updated Monster 821 will join its siblings in the brand’s lineup in the country. The vehicle received updates not only at the mechanical front but also at cosmetic and technological front.
In terms of styling, the Monster 821 draws inspiration from the elder Monster 900 brother. The alterations such as upright riding position, muscular fuel tank and fleshy front forks endow a raw streetfighter appeal to the motorbike. In addition to this, the 2018 Monster 821 gets an LED headlamp setup and a full-colour TFT instrument display. The dual-outlet exhausts are borrowed from the Monster 1200.

Among the gizmos, the Ducati equipped this upgraded Monster 821 with some of the most advanced rider technology aids including three-level ABS, eight-level traction control and riding modes-Urban, Touring and Sport.
The powertrain is all similar the 821cc, Testastretta L-Twin engine yet it is improved for the ongoing BS-IV emission norms in the country. The churned out power and torque figures from the aforementioned mill is 107bhp and 86Nm that is transmitted to the rear wheel via a six-speed gearbox and slipper clutch. Besides this, the provided Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) system will offer seamless transmission via clutchless upshifts and downshifts.
The Monster 821 was the part of Ducati India lineup but was not compliant with the BS-IV emission norms that result in its elimination from product lineup. Post its arrival, it will lock its horns with the available opponents in the segment such as the Triumph Street Triple RS and the Kawasaki Z900. The 2018 Monster 821 is likely to fall in the price bucket of INR 10-11 lakhs.
