Fall of Bajaj Discover 100, Discover 100M and 125M Models

The abrupt decision of leading two-wheeler manufacturer Bajaj Auto to discontinue the sale of three of its models has left many of its Indian buyers in a fix. Earlier it was just speculated but now it has been confirmed that the company has officially removed the specifications of three bikes from its portfolio. The bikes which no longer are showcased on the company's official website belong to the Discover series, the models being: Discover 100, Discover 100M and Discover 125M. Even last year, Bajaj removed two models from its website namely: Discover 125T and Discover 100T and had quoted the reason as decline in sales. Currently, the official website displays and sells only three models in the Bajaj Discovery segment namely: Discover 125, Discover 150S and the last being Discover 150F.

Bajaj Auto has always believed in the policy of providing wide variety of options for its buyers to choose from but, the way Bajaj has recently started scrutinizing its products on the pretext of making no sales has surely caught the attention of its fan base not only in Indian market but also of those who deal in automobile segment on a global level. Though Bajaj, in order to make up for the aforementioned loss has launched three enhanced versions of its previous Bajaj Avenger model series and the names are Bajaj Avenger Street 150cc, Bajaj Avenger Street 220cc and Bajaj Avenger Cruise 220cc. Bajaj Auto is also making grounds to position the Discover brand as an executive commuter with a 125cc engine that rivals the Honda CB Shine, TVS Phoenix models.

Bajaj Avenger Street 150cc model comes equipped with a 149cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that produces 14.3bhp of power and 12.5Nm of peak torque and is also considered as an ideal motorcycle for those looking for a lightweight cruiser to ride on. On the contrary, both the Avenger Street 220cc and Avenger Cruise 22cc versions are powered by a 219.9cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that makes 18.7bhp of power and 17.5Nm of torque.
