Fourth-gen Kia Rio: Images Revealed Before Official Debut

Prior to its global showcase on this September 29 at the Paris Motor Show, the South Korean auto major, Kia has officially released the inside out pictures of its fourth-generation Rio, yet there is no word on the powertrains. If some reports are to believed, the new Rio will continue to be powered by the same 1.2-litre and 1.4-litre petrol, and a 1-litre diesel engine. The reports further suggest that a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged engine might be introduced on a later date. The all new Kia Rio is designed at the company’s design centers in Germany and California.

Considering the dimensions, the new Rio measures 10mm longer, 5mm wider and 5 mm shorter over its forerunner model. New dimensions are 4,065mm, 1,725mm and 1,450mm respectively, while the wheelbase stands at 2,580mm after getting longer by 10mm. From inside, the car is now more spacious than the old model.

On the exterior design, the front of the car gets a thinner and wider grille and the integrated bi-functional projector headlamps at the ends with the signature LED headlamps. On the rear, the car sports new arrow-shaped taillamps. On the looks, this time, the car appears to be sportier and bolder than the old one.

Once showcased at this year’s Paris Motor Show, the car will enter into production by the end of this year. On the feature side, it is being expected that the next generation Kia Rio will be fully loaded with all the latest features.
