Suzuki Gixxer 250 is a full fairing sports bike from Japanese bike maker that is slated to launch in India on 20th May 2019. This quarter litre sportbike is manufactured in India and will be christened here as the Gixxer SF 250. Ahead of its official launch, the motorcycle has been revealed online with important detailing. That’s why we are here to have a quick on paper comparison of new Gixxer 250 with highly popular sports bikes in the segment like KTM RC 200 and Bajaj Pulsar RS 200.
Powertrain: The 2019 Suzuki Gixxer 250 gets power from an all-new 250 single cylinder engine. As the company claims, the Gixxer 250 will be the first Suzuki motorcycle in the world to get power from the said mill. Other than this, a quarter litre engine is also available on sale in India however, it’s a parallel twin and powers the GSX-250R. But the churned power from the single cylinder engine of Gixxer SF 200 (26.5 PS / 22.6 Nm) is slightly more as compared to the Suzuki GSX250R which develops 25 PS / 23.3 Nm.
The Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 and the KTM RC 200, on the other hand, share an identical single cylinder 200cc liquid cooled engine. However, the state of tune on both bikes is different. The Pulsar RS 200 uses the churning power of 24.5 PS/ 18.6 Nm and KTM RC 200 facilitates with 25 PS / 19.2 Nm. The power transmission on all the three motorcycles is managed via a six-speed gearbox.

Dimensions: If compare all the three bikes in question the Suzuki Gixxer 250, the Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 and the KTM RC 200 dimensionally. The Gixxer 250 is longest of all at 2010mm, the Pulsar RS 200 is widest and tallest at 765 mm and 1114mm respectively. While the seat height of the KTM RC 200 is the highest at 820mm and the Gixxer 250 has the lowest seating which comforts the short height riders. In addition to this, the ground clearance of the KTM RC 200 is more than others in comparison at 178.5mm.
Kerb Weight: The Suzuki Gixxer 250 besides being powered by a bigger engine is not the heaviest of all. It placed at second position with 161 kgs in kerb weight ranking. The Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 with a kerb weight of 164 kgs is the heaviest and the RC 200 is the lighter at 154 kgs.
Cycle Parts: If the suspension is considered, in all the three bikes, the KTM RC 200 only features USD forks up front whereas others come with conventional telescopic forks. While the rear suspension in all three bikes is taken care by a monoshock unit. In addition to this, the Gixxer 250 and RC 200 rides on similar size tyres at 110/70 F, 150/60 R, while the Pulsar 200 makes use of 100/80 F, 130 / 70 R. The alloy wheels of all three bikes are of same size 17-inch unit. There are disc brakes at both front and rear wheel of all the bikes. The Gixxer gets dual channel ABS as standard while other comes with single channel ABS unit.
Price: As of now, the official pricing of the Gixxer SF 250 is not revealed by the automaker yet. However, it is being expected to fall around INR 1.7 lakhs, ex-sh that will position the bike between the Pulsar RS 200 and RC 200, which are respectively asking for the pricing of Rs 1.4 lakhs and Rs 1.88 lakhs, ex-sh.
