Famous Japanese auto manufacturer Honda Motor Co. Ltd. recently issued another call-off notice for all its 126,000 Gold Wing F6B bikes launched around the globe over Brake fault issues. The Honda officials issued an urgent recall notice for all the models after receiving some 533 complaints inclusive of reports of 8 small fires. The officials quoted that there are some severe issues in the braking system which if left unattended can cause the brake disc to overheat and ultimately lead to fire and the cause of this is prolonged exposure to certain types of brake fluids.

More exposure can lead to a reaction between the fluid and the brake hose material generating some kind of residue. The resulting residue can obstruct the return gallery of the secondary brake master cylinder which apparently would fail in releasing the rear caliper causing it to bind and simultaneously overheat. The company recalled the same motorcycle models back in December 2011 to fix the same issue but, they continued receiving complaints from all parts of the world. The company also states that the “root cause has not been determined yet” in documents submitted to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and that the investigation for the same is still ongoing.
Honda plans on informing every Gold Wing F6B buyer in the form of a letter informing them about the process of identifying the problem and how can they arrange a certified Honda dealer for getting their bike inspected at the earliest. If the fault is confirmed, owners will get a second letter informing them about the availability of repairs and replacement parts.
