The leading two-wheeler auto-giant, Hero MotoCorp has recently achieved a brilliant target of selling a half million two-wheelers in the country through its online e-commerce associate, Snapdeal. Both the brands went into a tie-up 18 month earlier, in December 2014. In this duration, Hero managed to sell 520,000 units at the online marketplace.
Now to give an extra boost to its sales figure, the giant recently introduced another online booking facility on its own official website, a month ago. But the tie-up with Snapdeal will still continue in the coming future and Hero might build up new tie-ups with other leading e-commerce websites in the market.
A company spokesperson shared,“We would be generating customer awareness about the online sales feature through our social media platforms and through dealership activation programmes”.
At a place, where various Companies are trying to enhancing their digital and social media engagement with their admirers and auto enthusiasts in the country. The subsidiary arm of Japanese giant, Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India, clearly neglect any kind of tie-up with e-commerce website in near future at the online marketplace.
Mr. Y S Guleria, senior vice-president (sales and marketing) said, “We will increase our digital footprint in a phased manner. Buying patterns suggest that people go to online for a deal or discount. A two-wheeler is not delivered at your doorstep. You have to visit the dealership to complete the formalities. Digital can only help in comparisons and better understanding of the products”.
In this phase, popular domestic and international automakers which have already marked their names are Piaggio, TVS Motors and Suzuki Motorcycles, besides Hero MotoCorp are in tie-up with Snapdeal.
The biggest merit of buying any vehicle from an online portal is the customer can check out all the variants and color of any product which might not be possible many times at a dealership. The buyer can easily book for any of the Hero product by paying a token amount of just Rs.5000 and further can take delivery from the dealership. Hero also affirmed that delivery process, servicing facilities and warranty benefits will be remained same.
