Everything was going very well, the Hero MotoCorp and its US-based technical partner- Eric Buell Racing (EBR) were doing well as they are in the process of developing a 250cc motorcycle and a scooter, whereas, the some of the products have already been launched. However, the bankruptcy of American partner has arisen a lot of questions in mind about the upcoming products of the Hero MotoCorp. Now, to continue the process of operations and development, the home-based maker has begun the process of bringing the product development of models back to India from its technical partner and all the operations and development would be done in the country.
Pawan Munjal, Hero MotoCorp Chairman and Managing Director, stated that "Clearly with the company (EBR) going into receivership surely there is slight push back in the timelines. But we are continuing to work on those products. In fact we are doing all the work over here in India." However, the company has acquired 49.2 percent stake in US-based firm in 2013 for $25 million (about Rs 148 crore). Pawan Munjal hinted that the company is looking to open its new collaborations to support the Research and Development ecosystem. The company will commence operations by the first quarter of 2016 from its upcoming facility in Jaipur.
Pawan Munjal, on the upcoming launches, said that the company will launch its two new products in the upcoming weeks to target the maximum audience during the festive season. Munjal said, “The segment which is growing faster, the scooters, we are about to launch two new models (two new platforms) in next few weeks, hitting the market well in time during the festive season. Starting this month we will start again stocking up for the festive season.”
