Honda Accord Hybrid Launched in India at INR 37 Lakhs

Honda Accord, which was discontinued a couple of years ago owing to falling demands in the market, has now made a comeback in a Hybrid avatar. Showcased early this year at the 2016 Auto Expo, it is a new flagship model from the Japanese auto giant. Moreover, the car will be using CBU (Completely Built Unit) route despite being assembled here in the country. The much anticipated ninth generation Accord flagship is now available on sale at the price of INR 37 Lakhs (Ex-showroom, Delhi), while it is priced at INR 40.57 lakh (Ex-showroom, Bengaluru) and INR 40.14 lakh (Ex-showroom, Navi Mumbai).



Starting with the powertrain, the latest generation Honda Accord features an intelligent multi-mode drive i.e. Sports Hybrid i-MMD system. In which, the duty of combustion engine is handled by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally aspirated unit, while the electric motor comes as a 1.3 kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery. In terms of the performance, the former is good enough to propel the unit with a power of 145 Bhp at 6,200 rpm complimented by 175 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm, while the latter is tuned to fire out a power of 181 Bhp and 315 Nm of torque. However, the electric motor has a limited range up to 2 kilometres, later on, you will need to run the unit on petrol guise as well.

Further, the system is equipped with an E-CVT automatic transmission option that also gets three automotive drive modes - EV drive, Engine drive and Hybrid drive. Additional driving modes are also there namely Sport, EV and ECON. Along with all these mechanisms, the car is claimed to make out an overall power of 213 Bhp as well as a fuel mileage of 23.1 kmpl. 



On the Aesthetic front, it comes with a completely redesigned exterior against its predecessor. The front fascia of the ninth generation Accord hybrid receives a large single strip chrome grille flanked by sleek LED headlights along with daytime running lights. Side and rear profile are more or less similar to the earlier one except a set of lovely lookings 18-inch dual-toned diamond cut alloy wheels and decent LED combined tail lamps respectively.

Dimensionally, it measures 4,933 mm in length, 1849 mm in width and 1,464 mm in height, while the wheelbase stands same at 2,766 mm. In order to give an option to the buyers, it has been offered in a range of exterior colours options such as White Orchid Pearl, Lunar Silver Metallic, Modern Steel Metallic and Crystal Black Pearl. 



The interior of the car is thoroughly different to what we used to see in its last generation models and enlightened with a beige-black dual tone theme. A blend of premium quality features, wood grain veneers, leather upholsteries, and plastic textures are making the cabin more interesting. Besides, the dash of the unit is dominated by two central screens, where the top screen functions as the infotainment and the other one will work as the multi-information display that is also known as i-MID featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Other noteworthy features are - two-stage climate control, eight-way power adjusted driver seat, a sunroof, cruise control, piano black four-way power adjustable co-driver's seat, a leather-wrapped gear knob, wood finish steering wheel, etc. For safety, it has been offered with stuff like six airbags, Hill Start Assist, ABS, Vehicle Stability Assist, and reverse parking camera.
