Honda CRF1000L Africa Twin Launch Delayed; Slated For Mid-2017

First unveiled at the podium of 2016 Delhi Auto Expo, the Honda CRF1000L Africa Twin which was likely to be introduced by the Indian subsidiary in the second half of 2016. Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India (HMSI) informed the launch postpone of the latest version of the Iconic Africa Twin and slated it for the Mid of 2017. The hardcore off-roader will make its way to the Indian Shores Via CKD Route and will be assembled locally just like its middleweight sports bike, Honda CBR650F in India.

Mr. YS Guleria, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, HMSI, shared the main reason for detaining the Africa Twin CRF1000L launch to Autocar Professional,"The plan of bringing the Africa Twin to India is slightly delayed because the development in terms of making the kits, parts-study from assembly point of view is led by the engineers at the Hamamatsu factory, Japan."

"Unfortunately, following an earthquake there recently, the plans involving several projects were disturbed. However, now all plans are aligned and as per that alignment, there could be some delay (in the India-launch)," he further added.

Standing tall on spoke wheels wrapped with knobby tyres, the adventure tourer measures length of 2,335mm, the width of 2,335mm and height of 1,475mm along with the 1,575mm wheelbase and 250mm ground clearance, as well. Mentioned ergonomics and dimensions makes it a perfect adventure tourer for all terrain conditions.

Power comes from a 998cc liquid cooled parallel twin engine that belts out 95 PS max power and 98 Nm peak torque to run the tourer on uneven terrains. The oil burner is clubbed to a six-speed gearbox. Moreover, the option of dual clutch gearbox and riding modes-ON and OFF on the rolled out machine.
