Honda Delivers First Batch of Africa Twin Bikes

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) which introduced its well-known adventurer tourer, the Africa Twin CRF1000L in the lineup around two and half month ago, has commenced the deliveries of the motorcycle, yesterday. All the 50 motorcycles in the first batch, was imported as the CKD units and assembled at Honda’s Manesar based manufacturing unit. The respective buyers have got delivery against their bookings. Honda Wing World dealerships are accepting bookings and desirables can book for the next lot which is expected to deliver within coming months.

For successful delivery of first 50 bikes lot, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India, President and CEO, Minoru Kato said, “I would like to congratulate the first lucky customers on the delivery of their amazing machines. My own experience of riding the Africa Twin, during the development of one of its variant on my official assignment in Europe, was exhilarating. The motorcycle with its unique features, allows it to be very adaptable for varied riding conditions. I wish all the Africa Twin customers a memorable and adventurous experience".

While, Mr. Yadvinder Singh Guleria, Senior Vice President - Sales and Marketing, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India expressed his feelings by stating,"We are extremely delighted to witness the overwhelming response received by Africa Twin. Africa Twin is possibly the most reliable, versatile and proven adventure touring motorcycle ever launched in India".

Offered only in top-of-the-line trim with the automatic dual-clutch transmission, the Africa Twin comes loaded with a 998cc, liquid-cooled parallel-twin-cylinder engine that is rated to churn out 87 bhp of power at 7500 rpm, and 91.9 Nm of peak torque. The dual clutch transmission offers three modes - D, S and a full manual with upshift and downshift buttons on the switchgear. There is no clutch lever, or gearshifter, though an accessory gear shift lever is available.

In electronic package, the Africa Twin gets Honda Selectable Torque System which gives a three-level switchable traction control, switchable ABS and a G-button offering half-clutch operation with a 'hill-hold' control. In addition to that, ride-by-wire, riding modes and cornering ABS along with basic electronics offers a very capable off road bike. A suspension setup is an adjustable unit with best in class suspension travel. While the ground clearance is of 250mm.

The Africa Twin which was launched at the INR 12.9 lakh (ex-showroom India), is now available at the revised price tag of INR 13,06,927 (ex-showroom, India).
