Delightful days have been seen by Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) recently in Northern India as they attained a historic sales milestone of selling more than 60 lakh two-wheelers. Apparently, this is also the 18th year of Honda’s business operations in India. The ever-rising demand of Honda two-wheeler in key Northern states of India has helped the company achieve this remarkable sales feat. The North states staging high demand for Honda two-vehicles include Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, Rajasthan, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and in Delhi and Chandigarh.
Talking about customer acquisition, Honda, right from the beginning has seen a rapid rise in its loyal customer base as 9 lakh customers joined their carnival in the initial nine years (2001 to 2010). However, the succeeding years saw a mind crackling rise in Honda customer base as they captured 50 lakh customers starting from 2011 to 2019. The most recent 10 lakh customers have been added by Honda in its loyal customer base in just one year, which is praiseworthy in itself.

A recent company report from the HMSI also highlighted that the widespread popularity of Honda Scooters in the North is a primary reason for the rapid sales increase of Honda. As per the records, only 7 per cent contribution has been made by the Honda scooters to the overall two-wheeler sales in Northern India whereas the situation has entirely changed in recent times. Presently, 1 out of every three customers in North India is buying a Honda scooter in India. The improving road conditions, faster road network expansion, and increased women involvement in the labour force are some of the key promising factors that have encouraged more people in North India to buy a unisex two-wheeler fulfilling their daily needs.
Coming back to Honda, the company currently provides seven different scooters under its two-wheeler portfolio to the customers. The scooter range from Honda comprises of Activa 5G, Activa 125 Scooter, Aviator, Activa-i, Cliq, Dio and Grazia. For trivia fans, Honda Activa not only rules the scooter segment in India, but it has also proved its mettle time and again by becoming the largest selling two-wheeler surpassing Hero MotoCorp’s crowd favourite Splendor motorcycle.
