First ever official teaser of Honda’s all-new hatchback based crossover has now been released on the web ahead of its world debut at the 2016 Sao Paulo International Motor Show which is scheduled to happen in Brazil. Christened as WR-V, it will be slotted into the company’s crossover line-up under HR-V and CR-V and above the Jazz model. According to the manufacturer, the car will carry a perfect blend of ‘tough and urban’ SUV design with a view to target the buyers who are modern freaks and love compact utility vehicles.
The all-new crossover will be launched in Brazil at first followed by other countries in South America later on it is expected to be released in the Indian market as well. As the media reports suggest, the India-bound unit will appear sometime around March next year. Now taking the details on the ground, it will house more aggressive front fascia integrated with a rugged looking bumper that further adorned by muscular touches as well as with prominent chin. Moreover, it will be equipped with a large wraparound headlamps that differ from the Jazz and an elegant black panel wrapped grille with chrome highlights. The side and rear profile are expected to be inspired by the hatch design.

The mechanical specifications of the all new Honda WR-V Crossover will be same as of the regular models including both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol derivatives will come up with a 1.2-litre, i-VTEC and a 1.5-litre i-VTEC motor that produces 88.75Bhp/110 Nm and 118Bhp/145 Nm. The diesel motor, on the other side, will get a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder unit which is tuned to fire out 98 Bhp and 200 Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties will be handled by a 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual and a CVT gearbox.
It is too soon to pass any comment on its pricing aspects, however, as some reports claiming it will kick out from INR 7 lakh for the entry-level variant and will go up to INR 10 lakh for the top-end variant (Both ex-showroom). Having all these specs it will compete against the likes of Maruti Suzuki S-Cross, Hyundai Elite i20 Active, Toyota Etios Cross, Volkswagen Cross-Polo and Fiat Avventura that fits in the similar range.
