Needless to say, the popularity of the Elite i20 has been enhancing day-by-day in the Indian car market, ergo, it has become a premium hatchback in the segment. The modish hatch, however, comes available with the manual transmission in both diesel and petrol versions. A little while back, the company had introduced the India-made i20 in the Indonesian markets, which gets a 1.4-litre petrol trim with options of both, manual as well as automatic transmission. A similar product is slated to be launched soon in India.
At the heart of the current model, breaths a 1.2-litre Kappa engine, which is able to generate a maximum power of 81BHP and all of that gets delivered to the corners with a five-speed manual transmission. Heading towards the diesel version, the unit has a powertrain of a 1.4-litre engine generating a power of 87BHP and mated to a six-speed transmission.

The next move Hyundai has planned is the introduction of the petrol automatic option, which is already benefitting the segment overseas. The car with this new 1.4-litre engine will now enter the Indian markets and compete against the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and the Honda Jazz. Power output generated by the hatch is about 98BHP with 133NM of torque.
Other than the powertrain, nothing much has been announced by Hyundai India yet. Though, we can anticipate that the hatch would probably be offered with ABS having EBD and dual front air-bags as a standard option. The design will remain intact as of now. More details might be revealed in the coming days.
