Mahindra, an Indian multinational car manufacturer, is ready to launch the modified Mahindra Scorpio SUV on 14 November 2017. The available Scorpio debuted in 2014, and recently leaked images show that the facelift of Scorpio 2017 model is most of similar to the existing model with some minor tweaks while the all-new Scorpio is expected to launch in the market sometime in 2020.
Considering the front, it is more or less styled like the Scorpio 2014 model with closer look slightly differentiating between an old and a new SUVs. The first tweak is in grille design with seven slats which are without chrome bits. The facelifted SUV gets design updates in the front bumper, air dam which has become wider now, and differing slats than the mesh-like design of the present model. Moreover as shown in the spy shot, the turn indicator of the Scorpio moved towards the wing mirrors.
Side profile of Scorpio facelift seems to stay identical with hard tweaks in plastic bits and body cladding. Looking at the rear of the SUV, it can get a fresh alloy wheel design and rear door to get a flat design with reduced creases. The rear placed wiper can be upgraded in design with refurbished stylish tail lamp design and elimination of clear lens design in the new model.
Style updates and design tweaks are small changes in the outer body which doesn’t make much difference in the appearance of the car but it can be a big facelift if the company updates the engine. The new SUV possibly gets a 2.2-litre mHawk unit which will produce 140 HP(which is high by 20HP) with some expected tweaks in torque as well. Although the engine will be mated to the same five-speed manual and six-speed automatic gearbox like the current Scorpio model, the automatic gearbox will be a fresh unit by Aisin Seiki. With the new automatic gearbox, it is expected that the SUV will become more reformed and accountable than the previous Aisin gearbox.
The Scorpio facelift is possibly going to eliminate mild-hybrid technology in lieu of higher tax slab for hybrid vehicles under the new indirect tax regime, GST.

Pawan Goenka, MD at Mahindra and Mahindra said that the higher tax slab rate on hybrid vehicles can put the future of such vehicles in a difficulty and these vehicles will go out of Shine. He said in a conference call, “We will soon be coming out with a non-hybrid version of the Scorpio... Demand for hybrid vehicles will have to be reassessed. Hybrids may even get phased out.”
‘Intelli-Hybrid’ was an initiate in a mild-hybrid range in Scorpio by Mahindra last year. This system manages electrical assistance when we accelerate to create improved fuel economy with other functioning like start-stop technology and brake-energy regeneration.
Mahindra is also planning to facelift a set of models which are the TUV300, the U321 MPV, an upgraded XUV500, and the S201. We can hope for some refurbished models from the Mahindra\'s bucket in coming future.
