American automotive firm, Ford has finally taken the curtains off from the updated variant of its tremendously popular compact SUV, the EcoSport. Instead of introducing at the 2016 Sao Paulo Motor Show which was confirmed earlier, this 2017 Ford EcoSport facelift has been publicly revealed at a special event in Los Angeles. With this unveil, it has also marked it’s entry to the North American market. The refreshed model houses styling updates in terms of both exterior and interior as well as an all-wheel drive facility for the larger motor.
With this unveil, the Ford EcoSport facelift has finally made its entry into the North American market and will be available as MY2018, while for the Indian cart segment, it will possibly launch as 2017 model year. Now, putting the details on the ground, the model has garnered all new front fascia dominated by a host of redesigned features. It includes a one-piece hexagonal grille, new design headlamps, faux skid plates, restyled fog lamps and bumper.
The modified design is now in-line with the company’s young SUVs like Ford Kuga, Explorer and Everest. The side profile remained more or less similar to the standard version of the vehicle, while at the rear, the car looks quite identical to the European-based model, which does not sport the spare wheel on a tailgate.
Inside the cabin, the car receives a prominent makeover from the outgoing unit. The automaker has revealed several control surfaces across the cabin, without making any changes in basic structure of the dash. Besides, the steering wheel, instrument panel and centre console are completely different from the last one and comes in a new layout. The centre console is now highlighted by a new touchscreen infotainment system with Ford SYNC3 that compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration. Some of the other noticeable features are - 10-speaker sound system including B&O PLAY-branded tweeters and woofers and a subwoofer, fast-charging USB ports facility on the centre console, revised air-con controls, etc.
When it comes to the powerhouse, the facelifted Ford EcoSport will come up with the same 1.0-litre three-cylinder EcoBoost turbocharged engine and a larger 2.0-litre, naturally aspirated, four-cylinder petrol motor that are currently doing in the run-of-the models. In addition, both the motor will come mated with a six-speed automatic gearbox with FWD as a standard option, while the larger capacitive engine will be available with an all-wheel drive system as well.
