India Bound Suzuki Baleno Revealed at Frankfurt

Suzuki has recently showcased the upcoming Baleno model at the Frankfurt Auto Show 2015. This premium hatchback, codenamed YRA will be launched in India with a different name. The concept on which it will be based has been already previewed at the Geneva Motor Show named as Suzuki iK-2. There will be a lot of competition for this car in India with so many hatchbacks posing a threat, including the updated versions of the Hyundai Elite i20, VW Polo, and newly introduced Honda Jazz.

Dimension wise, it is going to measure 3995 mm in length, 1745 mm in width, 1470 mm in height along with an impressive boot space of 355 litres. Currently, Jazz offers the maximum boot capacity of 354 litres. Visually, the front seems to be inspired from Swift highlighting projector headlights, LED daytime running lights and LED tail lights.

The rear end gets a different look housing a wraparound tail light cluster and a sloping roofline. The cabin flaunts a black trim pattern with silver accents and certain portions get a chrome outline. It will also receive hi-tech amenities like a seven-inch SmartPlay infotainment facility, steering mounted controls and automatic climate control.

A whole new range of revised powertrain configuration will be offered under the hood of this upcoming model. In the global market, it will be powered by a 1.2 litre Dualjet and a 1 litre BoosterJet turbocharged motor. The former makes 89 Bhp/120 Nm of output, while the latter generates 110 Bhp and maximum torque rated at 170 Nm between 2000 to 3500 rpm. Moving on to the Indian version, the range is likely to comprise a 1.2 litre petrol, 1.3 litre diesel and a 1 litre BoosterJet petrol engine. An SHVS hybrid variant is also expected to be introduced much like the Ciaz one.
