India-Made Volkswagen Vento Scores 5 Stars at ASEAN NCAP

In Spite of the fact that majority of Indian cars failed the Global NCAP crash test recently and they score a zero in the test. As of now, the ASEAN NCAP has released the crash test results for the India-made Volkswagen Vento, which was carried out in Malaysia. Volkswagen has been selling the Vento by the name of Polo under the sedan segment. The crash tests reveal that the car has scored a perfect 5 star rating in the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP), while the 1.6-litre version scored 4-Star rating.

According to reports, the NCAP crash test on the model was also carried out in the year 2013 and in that year also the test results were good. At that time, the 2013 Volkswagen Polo Sedan aka the Vento scored 14.51 points in Adult Occupant Protection. As per the results, it has been seen that the 1.2-litre variant equipped with ESC has scored the 5-star rating. The frontal collision test was carried away at 64 kmph.

As far as the safety technology is concerned, the the Malaysian spec Volkswagen Vento gets dual front airbags and ABS as standard on the base variant named Trendline, whereas the Comfortline top trim gets additional Side airbags attached. Mechanically, the Vento model offers both the 1.6-litre MPI and 1.2-litre TSI petrol engines, which efficiently produces a maximum power of 103bhp. The engines come mated to a 6-speed manual and 7-speed DSG automatic transmission respectively.

As for the Indian counterpart, the german automaker, Volkswagen has been offering an array of safety equipments installed in its major vehicles as per the global guidelines. The company announced the dual airbags in the front by 2014 just after the Global NCAP test that was conducted in 2013. The automaker is also excited about the launch of the new Ameo Compact Sedan in India. The company will fit the Ameo with all necessary equipments along with front airbags and ABS on all trims.
