Unique in its own right!! Ducati SuperSport has been propounded in front of the world at the underway motorcycle event, the Intermot 2016 in Cologne, Italy. This newbie in the Ducati family was sharing the stage along with its revived Euro 4 siblings, the Ducati Monster 821, the MultiStrada 1200 S and the Diavel.
Neither a superbike nor a sports tourer, the Ducati SuperSport is an offbeat attempt by Italian bike maker to provide a perfect blend of comfort and sporty character for the enthusiasts. Look wise, the fully faired SuperSport makes us believe as a resemblance of the 959 Panigale but the bike does not keep a belly pan altogether it offers upright riding position focused for a city use. More on aesthetic end, the bike gets an adjustable windscreen, bulbous fuel tank, stubby twin exhausts, etc.
As far as the powertrain concerned, the Ducati SuperSport houses the similar 937 cc Testastretta L-twin engine sourced from the Hypermotard 939. However, the company is claiming that almost 80 percent engine components are being altered for better performance. Offered in two variant of SuperSport and SuperSport S, the former trim is featured with Marzocchi front forks and Sachs rear mono shock, while the SuperSport S model will be equipped with top-shelf Ohlins suspension unit at both front and rear end. The braking duties will be controlled by the Brembo brakes. The three-level ABS, traction control, ride-by-wire throttle and three riding modes will be the part of equipped electronics bits.
The Ducati SuperSport will rub its shoulders with the established sports tourers in the global market like the Kawasaki Ninja 1000 and the Suzuki GSX-S1000F. Continue to evolve Indian market is witnessing these versatile sportbikes in growing numbers, so we can expect the Ducati SuperSport sometime after its global launch.
