Indian two-wheeler market, which in the wake of imminent Goods and Service Tax (GST) on 1 July 2017, is observing pre-GST price cuts on products from various manufacturers, has now got a new member in the list, Kawasaki India. This Indian arm of Japanese performance bikes manufacturer is offering a range of pre-GST benefits from the massive discount of Rs 1.0 lakh on the 2017 calendar year version of sportbikes like the Ninja ZX-10RR and the Ninja ZX-14R, to minimal Rs 10,000 flat discount on rest of Kawasaki motorcycles.
For a reminisce, under GST, the applicable tax rate on two-wheelers over 350cc will be 28 percent along with an additional cess 3 percent that will subsume to 31 percent, more than one percent than the prevailing 30 percent in current taxation. So as per the scheme, the product such as the Z250 and the Ninja 300 will not attract the additional of 3 percent cess.
Besides, the Kawasaki has also planned to introduce a new model in existing Indian lineup on July 7, 2017. But, who will this newcomer be, has not been revealed yet by the auto major? As expected, it could either be an improved BS-IV compliant variant of the Ninja 1000 or the Versys 1000. As the Z1000SX based Ninja 1000 is due for an update and the BS-III compliant Versys 1000 is out of stock in the Indian market.
Other than this, all the Kawasaki models in India has received upgrades for the more stringent BS-IV emission norms. So, there are a lot of chances the upcoming product could one of these mentioned models exempted from new BS-IV emission norms.
