During the Auto Expo 2018, a range of models is showcased by the Kia considering to make a presence in Indian market. Moving forward with the same path, the company is working hard to develop its manufacturing facility in Anantapur district, Andhra Pradesh. The first product from this development unit will be anonymous compact SUV which is based on the SP concept and is a rival to Renault Captur, Duster in India, and Hyundai Creta.
The Korean company is putting full-efforts in framework installation of the plant and almost finished the plant framework which covers an area of 23 million square feet. The production the plant will be completed by the end of second quarter of 2019. Production of new cars will start in this facility from the second half of 2019 and after the full functioning of the facility, the company will be able to produce three lakh cars per annum.

Manohar Bhatt, Kia’s Head of Sales and Marketing in India says that the SP concept-based SUV will be the first offering from the company side in India and customer can expect other products within 18-24 months as well. Although, nothing has been revealed regarding the second offering in India by the officials yet. From the move, it can be said that the company is not taking Indian market lightly and we can predict more launches from the company after the success of the SP.
The Kia is also thinking to have some CKD offerings in the country. This also means that we can expect the Stinger to come to the Indian market as CBU or CKD imports.
