The Chief Executive Officer of KTM, Stefan Pierer, has recently made an announcement which has doubled the excitement of MotoGP World Championship aficionados. The declaration states that the KTM motorcycles will be taking part in the widely-known MotoGP World Championship, which will be going to held in the year 2017.
The CEO also stated that they will be entering into the championship with a brand new V-4 prototype motorcycle. This motorcycle will be named as KTM RC16. The company will develop and reveal the RC16 might be in the mid of 2015 and will spend 2016 testing and developing this motorcycle. The KTM is the latest two-wheeler manufacturer who is spreading widely across various countries all around the World. And, will also be following the ongoing projects by World Champion motorcycles from Aprilia and Suzuki to enter the Series.
The KTM's upcoming RC16 will be based upon the existing 1190 RC8 Superbike. The upcoming motorcycle will be powered by a 1000cc V-4 and will be built around a tubular steel frame likely to be the same as KTM's Moto3 Racer. It is also expected that the RC16 will be receiving a WP suspension, which is currently being used in the Moto2 racer.
Eventually, the company will be manufacturing the RC16 for the MotoGP team and thereafter the company might avail it for retail purpose. Although, the on-road version will not be the same from the MotoGP version, there might be some changes in the specifications. The RC16 is believed to be priced in between €150,000 to €200,000 (200,780 USD to 267,700 USD).
Well, at this point of time, this might seems to be pretty small information, but we have to wait till 2017 MotoGP to watch the KTM motorcycles running over the MotoGP tracks and also winning the championship.
