Lamborghini’s Electric Supercar Will Not Run On A Battery

The 2018 Geneva motor show witnessed many electric car launches and low volume hybrid and electric supercars, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Lamborghini also combinedly revealed Terzo Millenio which was quite exciting. It was visually not that attractive and the reason can be due to the first attempt of the company in supercar making.

As per the Maurizio Reggiani, the head of Lamborghini’s research and development department, the people generally discuss at Lamborghini about the future vision of an electric supercar to be looked like. The repercussion is that the tech built of today by the likes of Jaguar, Nissan and Tesla are not appropriate to power the segment of the supercar such as the Aventador S. They mention that the problem is the battery which put down the weight of the car but as well makes the chassis to go well with it.

He further detailed about the digital trends of the company, “[Our cars] must have a top speed superior to 186 mph, they must be able to run three full laps at full speed on the Nordschleife, and they must have state-of-the-art handling. You cannot do this with the current battery technology.”

Talking about a conventional electric car, they have a chassis which is developed such as a skateboard along with accommodation of a flat mattress kind of battery pack lying on it, noticeable between the wheels. The concept is not very alluring to the Lamborghini as it considers that this makes some limits in packaging and includes too much weight as well. The better option, as per the Reggiani, is the rechargeable body panels.

The Terzo Millennio is under construction keeping this concept in mind and to follow up to some extent, however, it is still undergoing for testing phases in order to check possibility, the new Lambo Super-Electric will be utilizing parts of carbon fibre that can make the energy stored in order to feed the motor for running accurately.

According to the Lamborghini, everything is possible with the battery and it is the main basis to the source of excess as the company says and wants to use all of the power generated from the battery for the Terzo’s moto. Reggiani focusses in reference to an electric supercar to satisfy the weight in the relevance of an electric drivetrain by making the energy stored in the body panels and it is the possible way to make the super sports car seriously the real one instead of makings electric sports car only.
